I may be late to the party but this is the first time I've seen WCG use multistable core crunching. I'm only running 4 WU but all cores are at 100% with 77% used RAM. Don't care as long as all the cores are running at 100%.
Could it be Einstine@Home Gamma-ray pulsar binary using a full core? I know that there running on GPUs but never seen a WU take a full core as well. I have 2 GPUs meaning 2 cores taken up as well. 4 WCG Cancer and 2 E@H Gamma-ray GPU of a total of 6 cores. 6 cores and 16 GBs of RAM. |

AMD cards uses about 2/3 of a thread per task for Einstein. You can specify for it to use 1/2 a thread with an app_config.xml. Nvidia cards need a full thread for Einstein. Then background apps etc... etc ..

Then background apps etc... etc .. I have a four thread laptop I have set to run at 50% speed to limit heat buildup. I didn't need an app but could set it directly in the tools / computing preferences / processor usage, depending on BOINC version.
