I hope BOINC developers raise the limit on concurrent threads (200) and maximum work units (1000) soon. Imagine a dual socket system (Threadripper or EPYC) with 128 cores, 256 threads. If someone really does spend $30-40K on a 128c/256t machine to run WGC, I don't think we need to limit how many work units that machine gets assigned to run. Actually, it would probably be more cost effective to get 20x 8c/16t desktop Ryzens. Nobody would be doing this deliberately to chalk up higher WCG stats, there's no loophole there from a financial point of view. ![]() |
