I really hate this change, I liked seeing the progress of each project going up.
----------------------------------------Can't you bring it back but just do it as percentage of the current block of work rather than an overall project percentage? ![]() |

The old progress bars were based on data which was available to analyse, and volunteers used to generate ECDs (Expected Completion Dates) for each project from that data. This allowed other volunteers to plan which (sub-)projects to join, and when there was no point staying with one because you wouldn't have enough time to get to your next badge. That has gone, and is sorely missed. |

Why Progress Bar of SCC is still in "progress" since there is no work avalaible for that project????????? Because the researchers plan on submitting more work in a couple of months. Cheers

Why Progress Bar of SCC is still in "progress" since there is no work avalaible for that project????????? Because, for some reason I don't quite comprehend, the techs do not think there is any value in telling us, via the simple, visual control panel of the Research page, that there is no work for a particular (sub-)project. They leave it up to the people who hang about on the forums to tell those who are venturing into the forum with trepidation because they think something might be broken, rather than making it abundantly clear so that people don't waste time in the first place. Clearly our time is not as valuable as theirs. Sorry if that's harsh, but it's how it seems. |

You know what really worries me regarding this change? Not that the current solution is useless, not even the fact that I have no idea if I spent the computing power at my disposal in a good, reasonable way. What really worries me that the techs and admins simply ignore this thread. We're expressing our disappointment for months and nobody from them (except opening post and maybe one or two posts at the very beginning, not linked at all with the main thread) cared about stepping into and telling us that they hear our voice. Nope, nothing, nada. We do not deserve even simple statement that "please stop beating this dead horse, we're not going back and we lock this thread". I feel disappointment, maybe even anger, but at the first place I feel abandoned. Apparently some statements I read on this forum "stop complaining, we're providing our time, efforts and money to the science, do not expect ANYTHING in return" are real. Very, very demotivating, simple as that.

Hello all,
This thread is monitored, and the posts are read. At this time, however, the team has nothing new to add to the topic that has not already been stated by Juan (and again by Caiti). We are committed to upholding the integrity of the data we give to volunteers, as we explained in the original post and the follow-up post. The reason the thread remains unlocked, at this time, is because we do not want to stop members from discussing it with each other. But again, at this time, we have no new information to add regarding the progress bars. Thank you for your support, ErikaT |
