Where to enter login/pass?

After a longer pause I downloaded & installed BOINC again but it won't connect saying the password is wrong. I never entered my logon/pass anywhere and fail to find the place to do so. When I go to "Tools->use account manager" I get the error "The password you have provided is incorrect, please try again".

So where to enter my login/pass?

Re: Where to enter login/pass?

Why are you using an account manager? Do you have an account manager?
If not, you are doing it wrong and you should choose "add/attach to a project" instead.
Then you can enter your username and password.

Re: Where to enter login/pass?

When I select "Add project" I get the same error:

The password you have provided is incorrect, please try again.

As I said I have never entered any password in the software so I don't know what to do

Re: Where to enter login/pass?

You are entering "Byteball_2773595" as the username and the password associated with this account, correct?

Re: Where to enter login/pass?

I am entering nothing because I am not asked for login/pass anywhere.

Where can I enter it? That is my question all the time.

Re: Where to enter login/pass?

Ok, i've had the same problem and i solved it, though i am not completely clear on how i did that.
In the advanced view, click on File and then Select Computer. Then mess around with the dropdown menu on the Host name option (that's what i did and what i am not clear on). It somehow filled out the password correctly and the client started working as it should.

Just... just go to the Select computer menu, that worked for me.

Re: Where to enter login/pass?

Actually if you are connecting to the client on the same machine as where the manager is installed, no password is required. Connect can be done with the IP 127.1.0.0 or localhost which is network speak for 'on this machine'. If you connect to the client via the network address as known or your LAN/modem, then things can get terribly slow/unstable particularly if there's a lot of tasks cached on the client, and password is required.

Shortest is though connecting with leaving both computer name and password blank. It will connect to the localhost client, unless you messed with the hosts file and client config.
