Jobs taking days rather than hours

On my PC (but not my laptop from what I can tell, but I don't use it very often), jobs show up at first with a time remaining to complete of a few hours as normal. Later, they have a time remaining of several days. This didn't happen until recently. I have been trying to think I changed anything in terms of my PC or network, but I haven't come up with anything so far.

Does anyone have any idea(s) what I can look at in terms of my configuration? I've already tried removing/re-installing BOINC, but that didn't fix the issue. I run the projects Mapping Cancer Markers and the Microbiome Immunity Project.

What are the specifications for your PC ? What OS are you running ? What else besides BOINC are you running ? If you are running Windows a snapshot of the processes tab of Task Manager sorted by cpu usage would be helpful.
Cheers

Re: Jobs taking days rather than hours

I might have figured out the issue, but more testing is required. I run TThrottle to help keep my processor temperatures at a reasonable level, as I run BOINC all the time whenever I am logged in. I looked at TThrottle, and for some reason the target temperature for the processors was somewhat low, so I bumped it up a bit.

Thanks for your reply, but I think I figured out the issue, as it appears that a TThrottle was causing the issue. Now, as to why the target CPU core temperature setting got messed up as described in my other post in the application, I don't know! I have not opened it for literally months.

Re: Jobs taking days rather than hours

Prefer the opposite Philosophy to TThrottle. Set BOINC to run all CPUs as near to 100% as possible and vary the CPU frequency to limit CPU temperature to a safe value. Have only one machine where this will not work - CPU frequency on that machine is fixed by the CPU manufacturer - no Intel SpeedStepĀ®. (Intel D2700).
