This Windows 8.1 Enterprise guy needs to go

On nearly EVERY ONE of my valid tasks, a second wingman, ALWAYS running 8.1 Enterprise x64, ALWAYS errors out with the same "cannot create process" error. Can we kick that host off or something? The owner may not know it; the admins should find out who this is and message them by email.

Why not change YOUR OS? I don't know if windows 10 is still free, but I have found it fairly bulletproof.

The once free Windows 10 upgrade is no longer available for free.

Looks like this should have been posted under one of the support forums or the project.

The thing I posted isn't me. BladeD is right, but it's multiple projects.

Re: This Windows 8.1 Enterprise guy needs to go

I haven't noticed which version of Win 8 that errors out but roughly 9 out of 10 it is a WIN 8. I'm sure that somebody have a more accurate number but banning WIN 8 in general would not look good. Yes I know that that wasn't what you asked for but I can provide a very long list of Linux/AMD combinations that act strange as well and the system doesn't pick up on them either. You don't lose points, you just get them later. These AMD/Linux is plain and simple cheating the points system.

Sorry of hijacking your post but the underlying problem is similar.

Re: This Windows 8.1 Enterprise guy needs to go

We took a look at this today. The server includes a mechanism that limits how many results per day a device can get for a specific application where it is returning only errors. The mechanism works by having a daily results per day limit for each host-application pairing and keeping track of how many results are sent to that device for that application each day. Devices that are returning good results normally don't encounter this limit since it is quite high.

However, after looking at the results that hiimebm they were tied to a user. The significant contributor who has many similarly configured machines that normally operate very reliably. However, something has gone wrong and they are currently only returning errors.

This should have triggered the limits that the server has built in. However, after investigation we found that there was a bug in that code and what I would call a design flaw that allowed these machines to grab 20-40 results per day and return them as errors.

We have fixed the bug and changed the design flaw so that these machines will actually be limited to just 1 result per day and not the 20-40 results per day they were able to get before. This should resolve the observations of a large number of errors that people have observed.

Note that it is important to allow these computers to be able to get 1 result per day so that once the issue is resolved, they can resume contributing.

Thanks for letting us know about this issue!
