Yesterday night, I started crunching FAHB, and got a lot of WUs on my linux VM running BOINC, with only one day to complete these missions...
Currently, there's still 4 ongoing and 48 waiting, and though I'm sure this computer can complete these missions on time, I still feel uncomfortable: I don't understand. Why is the deadline set to be so close? I expected that there's no reason to be so hurry. And my laptop isn't that great.(CPU i7-6500U) |

FAHB is one of those projects where each unit crunched spawns another unit to be crunched. There are upwards of 150 or more iterations of the series. If the scientists used the 10 day time limit on work units it may then take over 1500 days to complete a series in a worst case scenario. Even if the average time to complete a work unit is 3 days, it would mean 450 days or more to complete a series, more than a year. So these work units have a shorter deadline in order to complete the series on work unit in some reasonable amount of time. Don't worry about your queue, if you have it set at a reasonable number, it will self adjust over time. Any units you do not crunch will be re-issued to another cruncher.

Maybe you're right, I shouldn't care so much about this. I just feel sorry for the possibility that I cannot done all of these WUs. Or maybe I just want those badgets... Maybe BOINC shall be running while I need my computer for work or so, but now it just feels like a burden to me to finish all these... |

Now that you know about 24 hour deadline, you can adjust your queue size accordingly.

I am surprised that you have so many queuing because I am only allowed 8 (presumably because I have 8 threads on my machine). However, they are replaced as soon as I return each one.
Although I restrict them to 1 or 2 at a time, I am still allowed a cache of 8. Mike |

And I have just returned 4 Beta FAHB units which had a time limit of 36 hours.
