I have had 4 WU's do this in the last fortnight - one I left running for 6 days before having to abort it.
I have disabled this project for the time being, as I don't want to waste days of crunching time. |

Hi meadmaker,
(Do we share a hobby?) Wow, 14 years and your first post -- welcome to the forums! From what I remember of this sort of issue having been reported by others, I would say that your best bet is to kill any WUs exhibiting this behaviour as soon as you notice them. Use the OS, don't abort them in BOINC manager. They will then restart from the previous checkpoint. I also wonder if you've rebooted your machine since this started to happen? I have an inkling that there might be some sort of system resource allocation issue. |

Hi Apis
(I guess we do *smiles*) I 've restarted it, having found a *windows 10 issue* (sigh) that was causing issues across the board (after a recent "update". I'll watch carefully what happens in the future, and will post again if I spot anything. |

I'm glad you're crunching again.
Fingers crossed that it doesn't recur. |

Not sure if this is the same issue reported in this forum, but here it goes: I have a WU that has already run for 6 hours (they usually last 1.5-3 hrs). What caught me eye was the remaining time: 14d:07:33:16 (at 1.784% Elapsed time). I'm assuming that the "14d" refers to days and not decades ! . Any who, is this a known issue and if so, any next steps besides aborting it?
----------------------------------------Thanks, CJSL Crunching like there is no tomorrow !!! |

Within the last 3 weeks, one Windows machine (Win 7 Pro x64 SP1) hang twice.
----------------------------------------In the both cases, boinc crashed and the network connection was lost. Only a cold start (shutdown, power off, reboot) brought the machine back into operation. The machine is currently mainly devoted to SCC with only few OZ WUs. For the both crashes, I do suspect some SCC troubles. Cheers, Yves |

Having this issure on one of my two machines. For some reason from time to time one working unit hangs and timer keep growing for it. I terminate client and restart it in this case. Never thought about killing the unit process itself, should try this next time.
----------------------------------------The issure is annoying and frustrating though. It eats valuable processing time...

I would try pausing and restarting just that WU first. |
