North Minnesota is even better in many ways, but winter is a month longer. I lived in the boonies since late 70's but came back into town in 2009, sure was noisy to me. Wow thought I would be back in rural before now.  Love the grass and trees here but too humid for me, need to find a place just can't figure where that is.I would suppose you would want to stay in MN. Still, there's places out there that might surprise you. That's what I like where I am. I've seen everything in the yard except black bear and coyote. I seem to have a resident rabbit family in the yard for now. When the cicadas get going and that dang whippoorwill joins in (I swear he has an amp), all you need is a howler monkey or two to believe you're in the jungle. Still, no more than 15 minutes or so away, I have all the big box stores, restaurants and what all. Best of both worlds. I suppose if I was going to move one last time, I'd go looking for the right spot around Brevard NC in the middle of waterfall country (aka Transylvaina county). Literally hundreds of 'em. My older brother in Charlottesville VA has a real nice view of the Blue Ridge off in the distance though I'd tend more for the right spot in the middle of the Shennendoah so you'd have a mountain view to the west AND east. The Cascade River valley between Portland OR and Mount Hood is a real nice shade of green but a tad too close to the city. You want green, go for Juneau or Sitka AK. When I was in Juneau, they had clear skies and 74F one day. Whole dang town literally shut down so everyone could get out in it. That's the thing about that part of the Alaska coast - you're in the middle of a rain forest (it's a different kind of humid). If you can afford it, you can't get more choices that on the big island of Hawaii. They have all but two of the different types of climates there (I think it's artic and permafrost). You just have to go a few miles to another part of the island (though I'd avoid the SSE part right now). You can go snow skiing on Mauna Loa in the morning and spend the afternoon at the beach surfing. Guess it all comes down to which shade of green you prefer and the view you want.
