Hello fellow Crunchers,
----------------------------------------for approximately 3 weeks my computer turns off after some idle time. I haven’t changed any settings and the event log gives the following reason: 4/24/2018 2:13:24 AM | | Windows is suspending operations 4/24/2018 2:13:24 AM | | Suspending computation - requested by operating system 4/24/2018 2:13:24 AM | | Suspending network activity - requested by operating system Any clues how I can change the settings to let my computer run all the time, what he did for years..? Thank you very much! Chris ![]() |

Hello
----------------------------------------My understanding of what you describe is that your computer is hibernating. Run this command: control powercfg.cpl,,2 (Select Start then Run and enter the command) In the advanced settings window, verify what is configured for Sleep: Sleep after and hibernate after: you should have never for Both On Battery and Plugged in.

Thank you very much, it was in one of the many submenus... it probably changed with one of the recent updates.

Microsoft automatic updates mess with the default performance criteria during some update sessions. I have seen this before. If the update is large, check your performance settings. Microsoft may have changed the default from "performance" to "Balanced."
