Dear Madame and Sir,
I am new here and I am participating in a project. I have some questions 1. After every finished project work, I saw I get points. What do the points mean? 2. Can the points be changed in money or something or crypto currency? 3. If it can be changed, how can the pay out be made? Thanks in advance! Kind regards dynamicmormon |

Hello dynamicmormon,
Welcome to World Community Grid (WCG) and to the fora -- it's good to have you with us! The points awarded for successful completion of a Work Unit (WU) are simply a (rough) measure of the amount of "work" (in terms of the number of computer instructions) your device has done in order to complete that WU. They are used, along with runtime and the number of results returned, to record your contribution to WCG. Some members "compete" with each other to see who can score the most, and your scores are ranked by country and by team (if you have joined one). Take a look at my signature graphics for an example, and go to your "My Contribution" page to see how you're doing. It's all aimed at encouraging you to help contribute computing time to the various scientific research projects going on here. You can read more about points in the Help part of the WCG website by going to this page. Points have no monetary value of any kind. We all contribute our computing resources purely for the benefit of mankind, not for personal gain. Come with us! |
