Oh man i love this project. I feel like im beating people aready! I think we should encourage competitive teamaking. Here are some ideas.
Using word of E-mouth this website should find sponsors (like IBM) who can give prizes (electronic services; ie napster/itunes) to the top team at the end of a project or bi-annually. (prize sponsorship should be something a sponsor doesnt have to spend money on since it is a service, and that would be great advertising for them and great PR) Sponsors should also be able to compete. (DO NOT use the same sponsor twice in a row so that more people know about the project) Have a link to a straight banner ad list of previous sponsors dubbed sponsor page (but no banner ads on the site itself) (i have no problem with a sponsor AD box on the simulator as long as it is out of the way of the data and proteome; like at the top or bottom or, outside the box bouncing behind the simulator) I think i should be able to put my competition (teams i want to compare myself to) on my 'my grid' page so i can watch all my friends scores compared to mine at a glance. I think there should be point based plateus of "thank you's, or Rank" being just a level indicator of your commitment shown (ie -Different color dots next to your name) the more simple goals you set the more people will want to reach them. Titles may not be nessesary but that would be another way to encourage it. Let people earn the next title. "Hey i went from a million point devotee to a billion point fanatic" (you get the idea) A total progress indicator would also be great so we can know how quickly the new project will be done. I know this may be too difficult to figure out but it would be great to know how the overall progress is making its way towards completion. ---> what percent done are we? I believe this to be key to finishing quickly. Who wouldnt go all out when the finish line is in sight. and one final idea (for now) I think teams of comparable size should be able to challenge other teams officially and have stats everyone can see. If 60% of the people on the challenged team accept then the team goes to battle! likewise 60% would be needed to challenge a team. i dont think these kinds of rankings would be a difficult addtion to the site but im sure it would get people excited. We need zealous fervor in spreading the word, since when it comes down to it, the machine count determines the time it takes (or doesnt take) to cure disease. I want to help NOW. heh ive only got like 4k points so far but that means im beating some of you! Think you can take me? lets go! |

We Kentuckians are good at Basketball.....nothing else much really. I would try and get you to join our team, but as I've learned, that's against the rules.
So, I guess we kentuckians are good at learning from our mistakes ![]() |

We actually have a few of these items on our list to eventually implement. Specifically, we will offer certificates for different milestones that you will be able to download and print out with your name and the milestone on it.
We have also talked about having a "Challenge" section that would allow you to officially challenge another team or user across various options. For example you could challenge a team to add the most members in 30 days, or challenge a team to increase results on a percentage basis (so smaller teams could challenge larger teams). We're a small development team and all of our focus right now is launching the Linux Client, boarding our 2nd project and adding multiple language support. Once we get through these we will have time to add some of these updates to the Website. Thanks for your ideas. Blaine. |
