Re: Merge same computers

Please take another look at this. Had to reinstall an operating system and now one of my computers is showing up twice. Most of the work units are showing as one computer "DKS-desktop" and the rest are showing up under it's prior listing, "DKS-Desktop."

Yes, I've tried adjusting the capitalization in the PC settings.

Re: Merge same computers

Many have asked over the years, no progress has been made. I'm not holding my breath that they will do anything about it, though I am one of the many who would like to see that feature implemented.

Re: Merge same computers

I'd be willing to contribute money to a bug bounty to get this one done. Since paying money directly to IBM employees might be legally or bureaucratically complex to set up, maybe a list of charities that the WCG team selects?

Either way, going back to standardized BOINC server code (and dismantling any obsolete United Devices legacy stuff) and its ability to merge devices is probably my #1 wish for WCG.

Re: Merge same computers

Frankly, I do not see a big trouble with the current situation (i.e. not being able to merge hosts).
If you wish to generate some own reports, you can easily define at your side the applicable rules for reporting according to your wish and to your host configuration.
It is what I do on my side and excepted that the number of enrolled hosts differs from the reality, I do not have any trouble.
Just my 2-cent opinion,
Yves

Re: Merge same computers

Last week WCG disappeared from 2 hosts (odroid C2) . One ran on Android, the other on Linux.
So I needed to add the project again to the 2 hosts.

Now the android device seems to be completely new in the list of hosts, the Linux device did count the credits still on the old host-ID.

Its just a small "bug", not be able to merge hosts. But i lose the overview when i have many hosts and the project disappear more often.

if you use BAM, there was a problem last week, see the thread about "ghost attachment":
https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,42584
WCG was not the cause, but BAM.
