Thank you for being slightly puzzled as well, Elijio Perhaps Aurum420 who initiated this game would care to explain his idea a little. It's the SAME game!!! Only the word length changed. That's why I don't know if I want to play 3 version of the same game! |

Perhaps the variant Elijio suggests - changing two letters - would be worth trying out Nobody needs to be nailed down for life if it doesn't work for us |

I can think of only one qualified and competent wordpoliceman with a zest for correctness

Or we could let the next poster check the validity
If the entry he's going to reply to is incorrect, he could write what finds is wrong, go one post back, and use that entry to answer. That would be to share the burden of policing |

Or nobody check the validity. It's only a game.

That's true.
On the other hand it's a test and a practice of your vocabulary, so I on my English-as-a-second-language part don't mind checks. I don't mind a relaxed attitude at times either. In fact, I'm quite easy except for when dealing with fools in the real world which makes me testy and touchy .... |

I was wondering where the breaking point is. Four letters is easy and 5 letters is harder but doable. I expect 6 letters to be hard and maybe too hard. I'm ok with changing 2 letters.

Four letters can be difficult if you want to make something special, and I think we have become far, far better at that. Five is fine, challenging and doable. So far six letters with the change of two sometimes is very challenging - Elijio's 'velour' took me about one hour - sometimes easy 'damsel -> madame sprang into my eye at once, though it may be more French than English - still we have these two nice explanations in the Oxford: A title or form of address used of or to a French-speaking woman, corresponding to Mrs. ‘Madame Bovary’ Used as a title for women in artistic or exotic occupations, such as musicians or fortune-tellers. |
