There is the same misunderstanding of WCG over and over here. WCG is NOT a single project, it is a group of projects running under a single banner. Every sub-project runs it's own optimised executable. They do not all use use the same computation engines and do not have the same system requirements. Any ASIC built with the flexibility to cope with SCC at one end and MIPS at the other would be better bought off the shelf as a general purpose CPU.
