Android work unit performance

Hello fellow crunchers,

I recently upgraded my phone to a moto z 2 force and I was assuming that it would perform better than my other much older phone. For comparison my older phone used to take about 20 hours to crunch OpenZika workunits, but my new more "powerful" phone lately is taking 39 hours and going. It seems like the work units complete on time, but is anyone else seeing such a long run time?

Thank you

Re: Android work unit performance

Hello vlado101 smile
Right now I have a Zika at 99% in 16h 40 min
and an Ebola sitting at 100%
(for how long I don't know - they seem to linger forever at 100%)
having been underway for exactly the same span of time so far.
My android is a Sony Xperia M5, and to be honest I only know it has eight kernels/cores, whatever. I don't know its RAM, but the cache should be plenty.
It's my impression that not all WUs are created equal, but I may be wrong.

********
Follow-up:

My old single core Sony Xperia E
- named Mr Jones after Halo Jones who resurrected him -
seems to crunch a Zika as fast as my new eight core one.
Stands at 25% after 4 hours.

WUProp has a bunch of data for a comparison:

I don't see a Motorola Z in the list anywhere though

@little mermaid, thanks for replying. I guess I will just keep it running to see what will happen with the run times.

@mmonnin, yes I should have checked that first. I do have wu prop run on my other devices so I guess I will have the honor of adding a moto z2 on to the list now :)

Re: Android work unit performance

The memory leak actually happens not only when the Activity is destroyed per-se, but as well when it is forcibly destroyed by the system due to a change in the configuration or more memory is needed, etc. If the AsyncTask is complex (i.e., keeps references to Views in the Activity, etc) it could even lead to crashes, since the view references are null.
