Hello!
I noticed today when I woke up that I had a long list of jobs that hadn't been uploaded, and had been "backed off." I took a look at the logs and found the following: 7/18/2017 8:13:47 PM | World Community Grid | Started upload of ZIKA_000267676_x5gj4_NS2BNS3pr_ZIKV_A_EF_0127_0_r2106284728_0 I know that there was a maintenance earlier today, but supposedly everything should be back up by now. Thoughts? I checked all the firewall settings, etc, on my computer, and everything checks out. |

Yes, there's been some maintenance that's gone way, way, way over the time period it wsa scheduled for - and that's still preventing anyone from uploading or downloading work.
----------------------------------------The last update from the WCG techs, was some 10 hours ago - so, I don't even know if anyone's still around trying to fix it (I hope so, but, it'd be nice to actually hear a very brief update once in a while). ![]() |

Is there a site or somewhere that I can go to in order to view the maintenance status? All I've found was a blog post announcing that the maintenance would be taking place.

No, apart from a few brief posts by the WCG techs - some 10+ hrs ago, all we've got to go on is this Short Planned Outage for Tuesday, July 18
----------------------------------------An update once in a while certainly wouldn't go amiss... (at least then, we'd know that they were still working on it and not just 'left the biulding'). What's for sure though, is, all these outages on IBM's Cloud infrastructure certainly doesn't give a good impression to their potential customers... ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by gb009761 at Jul 19, 2017 3:48:22 AM] |

A number of years ago, I took a summer internship at IBM and found myself quite appalled at how they manage themselves as a company. I'm actually a bit surprised that they haven't managed to ram themselves into the ground yet.
Apart from the horrid pay that I received, the biggest problem I had was that the entire internship was spent playing video games. I was there for three months, and all that time I couldn't get my user account working (IT would spend a few weeks getting around to answering the ticket, then bureaucracy would see an issue a day later and delete the account, repeat). So, yeah, I'm honestly not surprised about the downtime without communication. If there were another BOINC project that I could find that does something similar to WCG, then I might try that, but WCG is the most popular/reliable one I've found, unfortunately. |

What's for sure though, is, all these outages on IBM's Cloud infrastructure certainly doesn't give a good impression to their potential customers... Sadly, the situation is not better by many other cloud service providers. Whatever the marketing department claims for, technology remains technology including all limitations, outages, bugs, etc. Cheers, Yves |

Wonder how many people are trying to fix their systems in vain and just go "FTS, I'll just go donate my cpu time somewhere else".

19.07.2017 14:18:37 | World Community Grid | [error] Error reported by file upload server: can't open file
That is what I am constantly getting from my machines. Fortunately I do have enough WUs on stock for another day. |

@WCG Techs - any ETA on when this will be fixed? We have a lot of machines hungry for work (and lot of WUs to report too).

Hi everyone,
The latest update (this morning Central US time) is at the top of the page at this link: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,40180_offset,40 We'd appreciate it if we could keep all forum posts about the outage on the thread in the link above, since this is where the tech team is posting when they have updates. Thanks to everyone for being patient. |
