I need help resolving the problem of WCG hijacking my overall computing preferences, which are supposed to be controlled by BAM. I even detached my host from WCG from within BAM and somehow WCG is still hijacking the preferences, even without having the application or workunits on my machine! If I refresh the preferences in BOINC Manager, BAM settings return for a while, but after a couple of hours WCG takes ove again. I am going to leave WCG completely if it can't play nicely with my 20 other projects.

Think it was well explained at the Berkeley forums... you need to modify the website preferences at a project that 'IS' fully BAM supporting. WCG IS NOT!
The modification stamp of the LATEST PROJECT where you modified the web preferences is overruling all other web preferences, which BAM CAN NOT modify at WCG. |

To be sure as to what you posted over at Berkeley

To move the 'used' global web preferences, go to a website that is BAM supporting, and modify, something like 'additional maximum work buffer (AKA Store up to an additional n days of work) and set that to 0.01 (temporarily). Save the profile/location at that project and return to client. Select the project where you made the change in the BOINC Manager project tab and hit 'Update'. Visit the event log and I'll expect it to inform you of a new General prefs use as modified at that project. By the looks of the log, the change has to be made in the 'default' location profile. Sorry for the bother. I have detached all hosts from WCG and will not work for WCG anymore. I desire a solution, not workarounds. I use BAM because I have a farm of machines with a wide range of capabilities and group them into profiles according to how much they can handle. There is no "Global" profile in use.
I'm not sure what caused the date of 27 JAN 2017 to be the last-modified date for WCG. Maybe something was pushed from within, as I certainly never changed anything. I don't understand this project's rationale for not being fully integrated with the BOINC API. I'll check back in a year or if my other projects start running out of WUs. Goodbye. |

That's what I thought would be the highly predictable response.
