FAH2 MECHANICS

As a less than one year NEWB on WCG I have learned the mystery of trickle reporting, my ignorance on the subject has contributed to the lost 10 days due to not having 100% connectivity. I have just recently learned the facility of setting up BOINC as a service. My question is; if I have BOINC as a service, and no users are logged on (Due to a Windows update for example), but there is an internet connection, will the trickle transfers occur?

Yes, BOINC will be running at all times and contact the servers when required. No user intervention is required for the trickle feature. I have BOINC installed as a service on several of my computers and it works fine. However, you cannot do GPU computing if BOINC is installed as a service.

Cheers coffee

Re: FAH2 MECHANICS

Nix thanks. I guess I would be surprised if the BOINC software would not work logically. I was very impressed on how I could uninstall SW, Reinstall SW in service mode, and then continue to process tasks in my que.
