Re: Pause for Smash Childhood Cancer project

Is there any official comment on the request that we be able to set priorities on our projects? e.g. Being able to run your favorite project exclusively and then if it runs out of work, run your second most favorite and then if both are out of work be able to run ....

RT,
I think this a great idea. In fact, I also thought so several years ago when this was previously discussed. I doubt if we will be getting a positive response to this request, maybe something like "it's on the list."

Yup. I was in on that conversation as I remember. I would think in the intervening years, they would have found the time to make this change. Being an old programmer, it does not seem like a major deal, but perhaps it is. I had pretty much ignored it as one of the unfortunate things about the system but my interest was reignited because it bit me recently. I had my projects set to just SCC and since I don't check the work queues every day, ran out of WUs. So, I went idle for a couple of days. I suppose they will just ignore it again.

I see you are from the Hill Country. I was down that way last weekend. Austin, Wimberley, Marble, Falls, San Marcos etc. on a mini-roadtrip. Seems there are 10 times the people down there as there was 20 years ago.

Re: Pause for Smash Childhood Cancer project

Priority scheduling is a change to Boinc and while it is something we would like to see finding time to implement it is difficult.

Thanks,

I understand your problem. It is a matter of priorities; I and some others remain disappointed that year after year after year it has never had enough priority to get done.

Re: Pause for Smash Childhood Cancer project

The initial targets which were run up to this point were 340 batches. For SCC1 a batch generally consists of 100k tasks.

Thanks,
armstrdj

Will there be more targets beyond the two new ones?

At this time these are the only targets we have and know about but the researchers may provide more in the future.

Thanks,
armstrdj

Re: Pause for Smash Childhood Cancer project

For anyone attempting to monitor the sequence of recent batch numbers, note that they are not necessarily being released in numerical sequence. I received batch 355 yesterday morning (UTC), 359 in the evening, and 346 & 347 today (all _0 units, so no repair jobs).

It looks like the project has paused again.

Re: Pause for Smash Childhood Cancer project

Yes, no SCC1 and no FAHB, WUprop shows both declining.
OpenZika was available, now none.

Paul.

Edit: now no OpenZika either.

Re: Pause for Smash Childhood Cancer project

I'm getting the error message: "30.04.2017 12:14:04 | World Community Grid | Scheduler request failed: Unrecognized or bad HTTP Content or Transfer-Encoding"
Maybe the servers are "just" hanging...

Re: Pause for Smash Childhood Cancer project

Just realised that my cores are all idle. I have turned on one project at a time and discovered that the only one providing work appears to be OET.
