I have left phone messages for both knreed and Viktors. Should have one of them on it pretty soon.

I have the same problem. It seems that there is a virus comming from UD grid.
That is how it started over there. I came here to be sure not to loose my time with broken stats and crashing servers. Crunched 17 years over there, here only 260 days. Hoping to be able to crunch here for another 17 years too . Hi to all who came from UD . |

The problem is NOT a virus! It appeared last time to be within code written for the World Community Grid that performs load balancing between the multiple servers being used for the project.

I have 6 machines down waiting to connect. Does anyone know how long this is going to last?

it's back! Unfortunately not for me - was able to send my WU down (30+hrs) but could not upload a new one. 27-09-05 @ 14:19 GMT The last time that this happened, it appeared to be a load balancing issue as Lewis stated. One of the symptoms was that the network ports which were listening for WUs to be sent back were locked up. Due to the way in which TCP/IP works, these ports are able to time out and therefore be free again. This is why you maybe able to connect but not download. You have been lucky to get to a listening port. However, the more people try to connect whilst there is still a problem means that the listening ports will be more likely to be locked up |

Members,
We are investigating this problem. The behavior is similar to last weeks problem. This week we are also seeing our URL monitoring software also giving off alerts saying that the website is periodically down as well. From looking at the logs it appears that those requests are not reaching the server. In addition to the grid agent problems, has anyone noticed any problems access the website? thanks, knreed |
