I'm assuming Macintosh will run VINA faster than Windows as both Macintosh and Linux are based on Unix?

Correct asumption Nickoli . Much faster.
----------------------------------------Cheers ETA: My HT'ed i7-3770 on Win 7 shrub app. 2,7 hours per WU in average, non-HT'ed i5-2500S on macOS for 1,1 hours per (ok, both averages are more-or-less) Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. Shrubbing@Home since January 5 2006 [Edit 4 times, last edit by branjo at Feb 5, 2017 4:43:18 PM] |

Experiment 000001
----------------------------------------- Win10 X3360 with 1050Ti (using 10% of each core for SETi@home, 4WUs) is doing 3:20 https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/....do?workunitId=1936798770 - Ubuntu Q9550S with only 1WU for GT240 on SETi@home is doing 2:40 https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/....do?workunitId=1936767723 |

The following comparison work units were run on a dual boot 8Gb I7-2600k at stock speed. It was a small sample of work units (8 linux and 7 Win 10) which were downloaded the same afternoon. Average Time (hours) 1.79 (Linux) 2.59 (Win 10) Average Points(Result Status Page) 57.7 (Linux) 68.4 (Win 10) On a points per hour basis it is Linux:32.23 and Windows:26.41. Linux wins. But as SekeRob has pointed out: hey we're here for the work, not for the points. Cheers

On my side, I do use points only as a performance indicator. It is the reason, why I refer to.
----------------------------------------For consistency reasons, I do never consider a single Wu nor a limited set of WUs. I begin to give some considerations to the earned credits, only after 5 to 7 calendar days of work, in order to avoid any assumption based on computation "artefacts". Based on this approach, I can announce you that finally SCC1 grants about 7 to 8% less than OET1 & Zika. All 6 machines are currently devoted to SCC1 and the decreasing of daily average is now really noticeable. Enjoy, Yves |

Enjoy, Yves I have noticed the points granted in the Vina projects tend to have more points per hour with the very short units versus the longer ones. It appears the units finishing in the sub one hour range get greater points per hour especially than those in the 2 to 3 hour range. I have not done an extensive analysis of this but have spot checked a number of times. I do not have the time nor inclination to establish this correlation but find it interesting nonetheless. As long as the work is getting done I am satisfied. Cheers

Been curious about this for some time. On 4/13 I removed the SSD running win 7 and installed an old 80gb HDD, loaded with Mint Linux 18.1.
Everything else on the computer untouched - an old 45 watt AMD Athlon II 4 core 2.6 Ghz w/ 8gb ram. I am not concerned about points - look at the jump in results returned over the past few days of running linux - wow ! 04/16/2017 0:003:20:06:23 20,203 186 04/15/2017 0:002:23:22:40 13,166 133 04/14/2017 0:003:21:37:39 7,959 81 04/13/2017 0:003:17:08:26 4,655 35 04/12/2017 0:003:11:29:24 5,465 34 04/11/2017 0:004:03:20:52 7,071 42 04/10/2017 0:003:18:44:54 9,828 33 04/09/2017 0:004:07:59:40 12,546 42 04/08/2017 0:003:15:54:10 10,984 33 04/07/2017 0:003:22:05:00 13,328 37 04/06/2017 0:004:01:35:49 17,077 49 04/05/2017 0:003:18:23:16 15,371 49 04/04/2017 0:003:20:04:08 13,624 49 04/03/2017 0:003:20:17:43 12,492 49 |
