WU estimated run time Wildly inaccurate

I am running a mix of Linux Mint and MacOs machines. On my laptop the estimates are 28 minutes, but actual runtime is 4+ hours. On my IMac the estimates are 12 1/2 minutes with actual runtime of ~3 hours. On my ThinkStation the estimates are 45 minutes with actual runtimes of 4+ hours.
I have my systems all set for .2 days of WUs, but the inaccurate estimates cause the system to load several days of WUs. How long will it take before the estimates are more accurate?

Re: WU estimated run time Wildly in accurate

Did you notice the variation in names of the workunits? There are two variants: WU-names with Rigid and WU-names without Rigid. The ones with Rigid run much longer than the ones without. The short ones can take an estimate of (much) less than 10 minutes and — when they're well on their merry way — the long ones will catch up sometimes, now and then. What you see is that the runtimes are interfering with each other, that's why you see some sort of 'mix' of the estimates, indeed. That said, the estimates will keep varying wildly because the runtimes vary wildly and they will keep on doing that. I'm afraid you should try to get used to it, unless someone finds a solution.

Re: WU estimated run time Wildly in accurate

I just looked and my results status for the 3 computers I referenced. You are right about the 2 different types of WUs. The ones without "rigid" run very close to the estimated run time. The ones with "rigit" are the ones with the large difference.
OH WELL, in a perfect world....... crying

Re: WU estimated run time Wildly in accurate

I looked at the task properties last week and found the task sizes (in GFLOPs) was the same across all of the tasks. Looked again this morning and the RIGIDs are ~4X now. So this may be getting better. However, I now have ~60 RIGIDs in my queue that are set to timing of smaller tasks so it will take days to crunch through them. Estimated time will not adjust until new tasks are downloaded (from what I have seen). Just trying to get my FAHV 10 yr completed. As long as the tasks keep coming for another month it will work.

Re: WU estimated run time Wildly in accurate

I'm seeing a gradual decrease time Remaining (estimated) of new FAHV WU's. The runtimes have been hovering just around 6.5 - 7 hours for Rigid on my laptop, but the estimate has been coming down from 14 to 12 to (now) 11 hours of the most recent couple of WU's.
