The average runtime per MCM result yesterday was just over 4 hours.

Re: Extremely long completion times

Have you checked to see if there are any background tasks running that might be preempting the science tasks? You should check tasks for ALL USERS as the windows update task used to run for a long time consuming resources but not doing anything. I think it showed up as a svchost.exe task. There might be other tasks doing the same thing.

Re: Extremely long completion times

Just to rule it out, your laptop will intentionally slow down if the chip gets too hot. How's the chip temperature?

Re: Extremely long completion times

Hi:

I do not have any software installed that monitors the temperature of the CPU nor have I located any that does this for this CPU. I did a search on Intel.com this morning. The laptop is sitting on a double fan chill mat to help with the cooling.

I am surprised that the average turn around for MCM WUs is 4 hours. The current batch of WUs that I am currently working on has an est. completion time of 28 hours.

Perhaps you could post a screen shot of the processes tab on task manager, perhaps sorted by cpu use.
Cheers

Re: Extremely long completion times

I have completed over 150,000 MCM work units on both Windows and Linux and have never experienced this problem.
Same here, at 62,412 work units. I wonder if an anti-virus may have grabbed hold of them? The AVs always cause me more problems than that solve, though that is a bit OT.
