I'm sorry to bring politics into this, but I need to know. Will the results of the election affect WCG, and BOINC in general?

I can't speak to what impact, if any, the election results will have on BOINC.
As for World Community Grid, we don't anticipate any impact on the program and we pride ourselves in opening up participation in science, for all. As for our research partners, they often face unpredictable levels of funding, and this isn't new nor unique to US researchers. Where we may see an impact though, is reduced funding for research which specifically relates to climate change. To that extent, it puts the pressure on us as a community to step up and fill that gap by supporting important research that may not otherwise get supported. |

Hello all,
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I will again highlight this section of the Communication Guidelines: 'Do not engage in offensive conduct. This includes not only the obvious (e.g. no ethnic slurs, personal insults, obscenity), but also proper consideration of topics that may be considered objectionable or inflammatory - such as politics and religion. Avoid these topics and focus on subjects that are World Community Grid-related and within the scope of World Community Grid’s social communication environment. Always use your best judgment.' There are plenty of other forums on the internet to discuss politics and political agendas. The World Community Grid forums 'are intended for individuals who wish to share and discuss their participation in World Community Grid. They are not intended for personal or non-World Community Grid related topics or agendas...' Due to violations of the above guidelines, some recent posts have been removed from this thread. If violations continue, the thread will be locked. Thank you for your cooperation with this, ErikaT |
