New problem

For the past few days when I have exited Boinc I have been getting these message for each of my Wu's;
25-Oct-2016 19:49:20 [World Community Grid] If this happens repeatedly you may need to reboot your computer.
25-Oct-2016 19:49:20 [World Community Grid] Task MCM1_0126858_3832_0 exited with a DLL initialization error.
Can anyone explain what is the error or do I have to exit BOINC seperately before shutting down my machine?

Re: New problem

And, what is the difference between "I have exited Boinc" and "I have to exit BOINC seperately before shutting down my machine"?
Do you run BOINC as a service, madmac?

Re: New problem

All I know is that the results are valid and that BOINC starts when the machine is switched on in the morning. Also WU's are taking longer

Re: New problem

If the results are valid, I would not worry about it. The length of the work units will vary. So how much longer are the work units ?

Re: New problem

If the run times have increased that much, I would check for for any processes which appear to be eating extra cpu cycles. I had a similar problem with my one machine running Windows Vista. Since it can no longer get updates and I had automatic updates enabled, it was continuously trying to get updates. I needed to turn off the update service and make sure the windows update service running under one of the svchost.exe processes was not running. It was maxing out one cpu on a 4 cpu system and doing nothing but churning.
Cheers

There are ways to achieve successful updates for Vista, as mentioned in various websites:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/6252...ates-just-keeps-checking/,
http://www.tweaking.com/forums/index.php/topic,4799.0.html,
http://wu.krelay.de/en/.
I've done this successfully on a friend's machine for the September update. I don't know about October's yet.
