Hi there.
----------------------------------------I'm running Boinc on a diversity of machines and OS flavours. Usually, adding WCG on them is no problem, but on one of my linux boxes Boinc won't attach WCG (and Einstein@home neither). I'm adding projects via Boincstats BAM!, and so far this has been working fine. On said machine, however, the client gets the project url from BAM!, but doesn't get any info from the project itself. I've tried resetting, de- and reattaching the project to no avail. The linux box is running Debian 8 with Gnome, Boinc Client 7.4.23, and everything else is just fine. Thanks for looking into this.
Greetings, Jens

If this is attached to project but gets no work the look at preferences in case it is set not to run when busy with other work maybe.
----------------------------------------If not attaching then see if there is a Boinc version in the Debian repository and load that instead using the manager. Last try might be to do same using apt-get. Once sure you have Boinc up and running you could try attaching using CLI then read the log of what is happening ![]() |

Hi.
----------------------------------------Thanks for the answer. My Boinc client is running fine apart from properly attaching WCG and Einstein@home. It just takes the respective url but gets no reply from those two projects. My preferences are working for anything else, and this is the latest Boinc version I can install via Synaptic. I'm not too savvy about Linux, so I don't want to try anything which might get out of hand on this system which I'm using for other stuff as well. I already thought I might have someone local look into this who does know his ways with Linux.
Greetings, Jens

I do not run Debian but there are two threads which might be relevant:
Solved - Linux Debian 8 - BOINC not working with WCG since begining of the year - This was active in May/June 2016 and BOINC clients detaching from World Community Grid in the sticky threads from June 2016 |
