In the latest Mapping Cancer Markers project update, the researchers describe how they are analyzing the lung and ovarian cancer data they have received from World Community Grid. They also provide news from their lab, including a new team member, and a list of their recent publications.
You can read the update here. Thank you to all volunteers who are supporting this project! ErikaT |

Thanks, but shouldn't this update also provide information about batch progress and expected amount of work ? According to last information, the ovarian targets should already be finished, so what are we working on now ?

Yeah, I can't tell if the update was written some time ago and held until the lab was able to publish, or if we severely underestimated the amount of ovarian targets.

Hello,
Batch numbers/progress are not included in project updates, as that information would be out of date very quickly. The work units for Mapping Cancer Markers are still the ovarian ones. Please check out all of the Mapping Cancer Markers project updates in the News section for more detailed information. Thank you for your support, ErikaT |

For those who did not do the 'oh' reading before:
"As compared to the earlier work of Mapping Cancer Markers, where we studied lung cancer, this phase will have a larger and more complex dataset. We estimate that the number of "experiments" we can perform within a single work unit will be much less, as each experiment will take longer to solve. Although the dataset is larger, that means that we are able to use our algorithm against many more points of data, which will hopefully return a very clear result." |

Hi, Is this project going to have more research targets in addition to Ovarian added? Or will this be the last one? Hello, The MCM research team is working on a project update right now. We passed along your question to them, and they responded that they would address this question in the next project update. Thank you for your support, ErikaT How about that ? ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Mumak at Oct 21, 2016 2:20:13 PM] |

ErikaT At this time, we do expect the researchers to add more ovarian-type work units in the future. In any case, we are fully expecting more work units to be coming for the Mapping Cancer Markers project. Thank you, ErikaT |
