Could one improve the site design for mobile browsers?

Could the website be more mobile friendly? When I read the page with Nexus 5, the text seems to be so small that it is hard to read without zooming.

That is not WCG domain, but BOINC...so you'd have to make suggestion here:
https://boinc.berkeley.edu/
;)

https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org is indeed WCG/IBM domain. BOINC has nothing to do with the website.

Re: Could one improve the site design for mobile browsers?

Actually the WCG website has small screen reader design in mind, looks well on my Nexus 7, and all controls good working on touchscreen, Chrome on Android is superb as it auto-zooms small controls for fat fingers such as the small right side author arrow to jump to a post. The design translated to how it looks on a large desktop screen.... 1024 pixel limitation of the forums. On phones it will indeed need squinting.

BTW, the Android BOINC client was designed specifically for smartphones, but that is clearly not your issue as deltavee also observed.
