confused Re: Project nearing the end of its computation phase

Hello there,

I got 3 PCs configured for UGM but only 2 are getting Tasks.

The other one isnt receiving any and tells me that there are no tasks available.
Both PCs are still receiving tasks.

Whats wrong here?

Cheers

Re: Project nearing the end of its computation phase

Well, there are no tasks available for this project. All available tasks are already sent out, there will be some resends only.

@EddyT
The project has finished all "new" WUs and so there will only be a few "resends" going out over the next week or so. While this project is finished, there are other projects active within WCG.

Re: Project nearing the end of its computation phase

Oh well okay then, thank you :) I was hoping to help out the last few Tasks. I´ve put this Project as a second one to get Tasks whenever they are being sent.

Thanks guys.

Re: Project nearing the end of its computation phase

I got some side work and spent the money on my hobbies, WCG being one, after I found some cheap servers I could rent for a few months. I am hoping to change my job early next year so I can rent servers again.

I'm excited for anyone who contributes as that is what makes WCG and BOINC so powerful.

Just for fun, if you don't mind shring. Where do you rent your server? Amazon compute cloud? Google compute cloud?

Re: Project nearing the end of its computation phase

My pleasure. I did the free trial at Amazon but wasn't able to get it to work properly. Used the free trial at Google but found paid to be beyond my financial resources. I did some cloud computing with shared processors meant to be used on occasion, not 24/7, I ended up hogging all the resources...they cut me of...I got refunded....oops. Some people do use shared threads and set the Boinc client to run like 20% of the time but that never appealed to me and I learned this after the fact. *shrugs*

Here is a 1 page thread where several services were introduced to me:
https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,38221

And a 5 page thread with comparisons between providers. It started in mid 2014 and the most recent posting was this year:
https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/...ead_thread,37011_offset,0

All that to say I've been using Wholesale Internet
www.wholesaleinternet.net/dedicated
and used multiple of their 24 thread machines and a couple 32 threads before my funds ran out. As of a few months ago the 32 threads were sometimes less than $60 per month, sometimes not. "Several months ago" so I am not very current as to what they offer. As my WCG ID implies I am not in the US but have not had problems using a bank card issued from outside of the US.

The only problems I've had with them are the "e-mail me when this sold out server is available" usually didn't work. Sometimes they told me a machine was ready to use but still needed 20 minutes or so to prep, aka the automated e-mail "your server is ready" was a little too fast, lol. And they changed some of the security settings so it was harder to edit some of the files to get CEP2 running but never had a problem getting other WCG projects to run.

From me paying money, to getting the login info, and installing and starting Boinc usually took 30 minutes to an hour. Really good customer support as well, especially tech at non-business hours.
