Hi Eric,
----------------------------------------the case I mentioned in my previous post is very similar to your. I manage the host locally (@home or in my office). Login - over SSH or at the console - was impossible. The only way was to power off the host. If I remember correctly, it was indeed the first time within 9+ years participation that I experienced such a crash. Fortunately, the SIGSEGV failure does not have such a huge impact on the host. Yes, I had one which crashed one of my systems, but both other wingmen completed the WU successfully. So I presume it was some kind of problem with my system ( a possible use of some upper memory or seldom used segment as suggested by Sekerob). Otherwise, the system had been stable for years and continues stable after the troublesome unit was aborted.

I have had many INVALID results from this project ... but it is a recognized situation and you are granted full credit for the time spent ... only half the points credit, but better than nothing
