Re: Updated terms of use, privacy statement and community guidelines

Hmm, now have a yellow overlay bar top of forum with 4 links and an X far right on Android Chrome. Hit the X, refresh page, back is bar. Is this intended (as a form of indoctrination).?

It would be useful for those not getting the bar, to include the links of the 4 articles in the OP.... Don't see any link at this time.. (basking in the Sun on my mountain, with at least 100 miles clear view, can hardly see what on the tablet display just a feet away ;)

SekeRob, we're looking into the issue about the "x" in the yellow notification bar not working as intended (once you click the "x", you shouldn't see the bar on the same browser).

And the links to the updated policies: Terms of Use, Privacy Statement and Communication Guidelines.

It's working ok in Firefox 47.0.1, Windows 10.

With a view like that - I wouldn't want to be looking at my tablet either biggrin

What device and which version of Android are you on? I've tested it on multiple Android devices and the banner is going away (and staying away properly).

also - i split this discussion of technical issues with the banner from the main thread so that conversations such as the one FalconNet started can be discussed separately.

Closed Chrome on Marshmallow 6.01 with July security fixes, now down the mountain, ran junk cleaner which does cookies /cache too. Relaunched and bar did not reappear. No repro, a fluke I suppose. The desktop with FF47. 01 showed it once.

No, the desktop showed it again after closing the browser and opening it again!
(And if it would not, who gave IBM permission to modify a users computer in such a way that it would not appear a second time? Yes IBM, like the nag "agree" messages of every website around the world these days that come back every new visit after having closed the browser.)

Re: Updated terms of use, privacy statement and community guidelines

When you close the banner, we set a cookie called "legalDocCookie". If this cookie is not present, then the banner is shown. If the cookie is present, then the banner is not shown.

The cookie is set to expire 90 days after it is originally set. We will have that notification banner in place for about 30 days, so if the cookie gets set on your browser you shouldn't see it again.

However, if you have your browser set to delete all cookies when you close your browser, then you will see the banner again after re-opening your browser.

Can you let me know if that is how you have your browser set? If not, can you take a look at if the cookie is set on your browser after closing the notification as well as when you reopen the browser?

Thanks!
