Unless you're on top of the event log, very probably yes, which leaves resetting the project, though if these are task related files, no stickies, or permanent application files, it feels like that won't do much either. For sure, there's seemingly no [automatic] mechanism to refetch the MD5 failing file, i.e. either code is added to client to go out and get new copy, or let it ride.
Think as users we've maxed out our effort of fact finding, which puts the ball in the WCG court, were it not that so far... |

hmmm, got a -186 and that's a download error / checksum problem as well, signature verification fail, and this on a first time download of a the 32 bit version of wcgrid_ugm1_graphics_prod_32.exe.7.28 on a 64 bit system... ugm1_ugm1_25993_0728_2 which is a repair job going south.
----------------------------------------Result Name: ugm1_ ugm1_ 25993_ 0728_ 2-- <core_client_version>7.6.2</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> app_version download error: couldn't get input files: <file_xfer_error> <file_name>wcgrid_ugm1_graphics_prod_32.exe.7.28</file_name> <error_code>-120 (RSA key check failed for file)</error_code> <error_message>signature verification failed</error_message> </file_xfer_error> </message> ]]> hmmmm, not the only science failing and this on a static file, not even a task file. More strange is that the API extract says it's a -186 download error, but the log says it's a -120 which has the description ERR_RSA_FAILED -120 BOINC couldn't check the encryption key on a file it downloaded. Does the file have a signature? Solution: Complain about it on the project's forums. BOINC will try to download the file again. Also try to reset the project. It may be that your public key is corrupt. A project reset should fix that. It's evident, no attempt was made to re-download the file, the task then crashing out, this happening in the same second as another ugm task finished, but right when I wanted to copy that, poof the error task disappeared from the RS pages. Quiet a rush to erase tracks. Guess -119 and -120 a quite akin. Edit: At 8:56PM another 32 bit repair task was downloaded of ugm1 and this time the graphic executable was received in good order. See no need to reset project in this goose chase. [Edit 1 times, last edit by SekeRob* at Jun 9, 2016 8:16:14 PM] |

BOINC 7.6.22 Win10 64-bit on my home machine. Work machine is Win7 64-bit but I can't recall the BOINC version. I think it's a few minor versions back.

FWIW, I've not had any errors now for three days on either machine. Perhaps the WCG techs got it figured out?

I spoke too soon. 3-4 more today, both work and home machines. Same error. Oh well.

Another user seeing this error pop up. Eight "error" jobs in last week, all with the same message "WU download error: couldn't get input files:". All except one have been picked up by other users.

Still don't understand why the client is not designed to go out to refetch the file when client-server do not agree on the MD5 check value.
As WCG is in progress of boarding a 7.6 version, maybe knreed can exert a little pressure for a re-fetch routine as reporting, discussing via the alpha mail list has not led to any reaction but 'how to verify if MD5 is computed correctly'. But then, could also be it's not a concern... fetch, fail, bomb, let someone else do the job [and lose reliability rating on the go]. |

Another download error:
https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/devi....do?workunitId=1710575325 Could you check if all the input files for this workunit are available for download? |

As explained, the file is there just occasionally does not MD5 check on verification. The client then does not try to get the file again, so the job [without using but few second CPU time], immediately fails. The next who gets the job usually succeeds.
The -119 error goes together with -120 [RSA Key check fail], which is pretty much the same, but on a different part. BTW, posting links does not work, plus, as soon as the job is validated, disappears to master database [the canonical], and information is disposed of on the broken job. |
