Re: Beta Test for Help Stop TB - June 01, 2016 [Issues Thread]

@cosmicboss

Are you sure you are talking about beta WUs? The current production HST1 will give the CreateProcess() failed error on XP, but the beta ones I got did not; they started and ran before failing in a different way.

See my post near the top of this thread.

Re: Beta Test for Help Stop TB - June 01, 2016 [Issues Thread]

The beta appears to have the correct compiler options set. Both MajorOperatingSystemVersion and MajorSubsystemVersion are set to 5 in the beta executable as opposed to 6 in the standard HST executable. All Windows WUs have failed for me so far with the same Stack Overflow (0xc00000fd) in XP, Vista, 7 and 8.1. Linux, as others have also noted, completed successfully and is sitting in PV.

Outstanding [you went out to check :].

:Thumbup

Far as it goes, and relying on there being feedback from techs, all copies that did slip out to windows before distribution was stopped were bad. Seen no word the distribution to Windows was resumed.

Re: Beta Test for Help Stop TB - June 01, 2016 [Issues Thread]

I can confirm the issue, on a i7 4770K, Win 7 SP1 x64 host, failure after 17 min running for:
- BETA_HST1_003048_000038_MT0019_T325_F00006_S00004
- BETA_HST1_003048_000051_MT0019_T325_F00019_S00004
In the both cases, the wingmen (Win 8.1 x64) experienced the same error as well.
Cheers,
Yves

Now Im not sure thinking . It may have been the case that it was a regular WU, but beta WUs have been error-ing out as well.

Re: Beta Test for Help Stop TB - June 01, 2016 [Issues Thread]

Announcement: The test for the Windows platform was stopped very early in the test, becauuuse the beta results on Windows were all failing!

If you're not sure, you can look on the result status pages what it was or else search the job_log_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.txt file on your computer. My most recent, bottom-up scanning, was a CEP2 beta:

Re: Beta Test for Help Stop TB - June 01, 2016 [Issues Thread]

I take that eventually they'll turn the validator on for the Linux WUs? Or will that wait until they fix the Windows WUs and rerun them?

Edit: Well, that was quick. Perhaps I should wonder when the old beta results will get cleaned out? biggrin

Re: Beta Test for Help Stop TB - June 01, 2016 [Issues Thread]

Looks like the validator was turned on. Of 3 beta WUs which were completed on my MacBook, one was validated and the 2 others changed to "pending verification".
That was yesterday. Now one of the "pending verification" was found "Invalid" . The other one is waiting for the wingman.

Looks like the validation is still generating "verifications". The 3 WUs ran in parallel on the same machine, meaning with the same constraints, interrupts, ... but generated different results.

Re: Beta Test for Help Stop TB - June 01, 2016 [Issues Thread]

Got one of these on an Opteron running Linux. It validated OK after some 40h runtime. But then I think that the Linux version never had the problem to begin with...

Edit -- Having written this, I noticed a regular production WU from HST that went invalid. A very rare occurrence indeed! But this was on one of my Linux Intel boxes to complicate matters further...
