2 of my machines went down last night for no apparent reason. I did manage to get 1 back up but being a Linux noob I'm still working on the 2nd. Just when I thought I had things running smoothly.

If you put that last error message into a search, you will get numerous discussions of this error. From these discussions it looks like you may need a new kernel in your Linux distro, or you can disable the I/OAT (Input/output Acceleration Technology) setting. It appears to happen with the Haswell architecture. There is also a discussion of the need for an extended configuration tweak.

Thanks Joe. I was able to get them both to boot again using the instructions found Here.
----------------------------------------Would still like to know what caused them to reboot in the first placed and what caused Grub to get corrupted. I have auto updates disabled. I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS so I would assume that has the most current kernel except for betas.

Heeeeeee's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! Groan. Survived the return trip in a short 12.5 hours; house is still standing; nothing is flooded; the car is unloaded but my butt is still buzzing!  I have the data for the 9th and will resume pulling the data now. Thanks again to Rej for doing this while I was away!! I have all your emails and will start on the files tomorrow after a good night's sleep. I'll get caught up on posting the team stats as quickly as I can but bear with me in the meantime. I knew we would hit the three billion point mark while I was gone but see we did that on the 4th (can we claim some of the fireworks from that day for us?). Should have known something was up when I saw we were already at 14 million past that today but did realize something was up when I saw the three graphs on the team page. GREAT to have you back with us Nano! Please settle in, put your feet up and we'll get you a fresh keg! Standard camping keg policy applies - you have to stay not only until it is empty but also at least until you burn off all the calories consumed! Seriously, please stay as long as you want, go for the long-term! Also, thanks again to RT! All four made it to their new home in one piece. Expect to have a KVM and cords on their way sometime this week. Then the real fun begins - getting those puppies humming and heating! Hope this post seems semi-intelligible - road-buzz does wicked things to a brain, well alleged brain in my case. Oh...and thanks Rej also for keeping the team thread active!You are welcome, adding those 4 computers to your herd should bump your numbers significantly. Now instead of having 5 computers down (and not adding to the heat in my office, I only have one down). In October I will add it back. |
