Would be nice to have some sort of realtime stats showing e.g. number of returned workunits etc.
----------------------------------------And it would be nice to have some stats about comparison of CPUs, OSs, etc. TX, jochrupp ![]() |

Or maybe just have the stats available online update more frequently. From what I have seen, they only update once every 24 hours. Of course I could be completely wrong, and now I look rediculous. ;)
In either case, more frequent updates would be ideal. |

I can understand, given the nature of these projects, that it might be necessary to batch process the result data. But it seems to me, given the probably pseudo-random arrival of results from around the world, it might be more efficient to have the server either
a) Process individual results in their entirety as they are received b) Split out the stats and update those right away, while saving off the real project results for batch processing. From a public relations perspective, I think folks are less likely to lose interest if they can see their results show up on the website right away. |

I'm a longtime SETI@home user, but switched to this project because it seemed like it would have more of an immediate and helpful impact on the world.
----------------------------------------I definitely agree, closer to realtime stats would be a big plus. I liked your suggestion b) -- it seems to combine the best of both worlds, realtime stats for individuals (good for us), batch processing for the entire project (good for the host). I really liked that SETI had an XML version of the individual user stat page, making it quick and easy to pull up my page and check my own stats without having to log in or navigate any links. |
