Re: Odroid blues

Or you buy a cheap Arctic Breeze-Pro which comes with a potentiometer... tune speed as needed, fan on a flex neck for the best positioning, maintaining mobility... multipurpose.

That's the easy way out wink

Re: Odroid blues

After working with others on the the Odroid forums, it does sound like a sudden issue with heat, with possible damage to the board. I have adjusted the cpu governor to get the fast cores working, but they do not stay running for long. Sometimes they drop after 30 minutes, sometimes after five hours. I have heat sink and fan upgrades on the way and will experiment with them.

For now I had to configure NativeBoinc to only use four cores, so at least the four slower cores are crunching without issue.

Re: Odroid blues

Hopefully the aftermarket cooler will help for you. If you got the same one that I linked to earlier, it definitely worked for me. But I had to cut the thermal pad off where it sits on the larger chip and apply thermal grease to make a better conductor of heat to the heatsink and actually drop the temps.

Re: Odroid blues

I ended up ordering this aluminum cooling case which will have air pulled from both sides by two AC Infinity fans. (I'll take a look at the thermal pad and see if I can modify as you did. I have some good Arctic Silver paste.)

Re: Odroid blues

Have you had any luck getting the cores all up and productive again? I have been keeping a closer eye on mine, but it seems to be stable for time being.

Re: Odroid blues

Thanks for asking! The cooling case is back-ordered, so I have just left the device running on four cores. Once I get the case, I will try getting all cores running again, though I am skeptical.
