Android Patch Monthly

They come almost without knowing exactly when over the air [OTA], and one smartphone/tablet brand ports them quicker than the other, but at base, Google issues them nowadays for their Nexus series quite quickly after publishing, push or pull as you please. In that, the about to come May patches are announced, some 40 for this month: http://www.eweek.com/security/google-patches-...-flaws-in-may-update.html

Stay safe.

Re: Android Patch Monthly

I am guessing that these patches come down through the play store for that specific app? Cause I get nothing for updates from Verizon for my Motorola Turbo :(

Re: Android Patch Monthly

If pushed by OEM, there's a special icon appearing at top, else somewhere in settings > about > check for updates [which shows when last checked]. There was a recent lawsuit against Samsung for not updating their devices of several years old, and they did not loose [but my clientele, though that happened 2-3 years ago already with their very poor software update mentality, for the costly smartphone and Smart TV of theirs we have.].

Re: Android Patch Monthly

Hmm. I know Verizon (only available in the US?) is very poor with getting updates pushed on their devices. Typically when I get a new phone, I keep it OEM for the first year or two, then root the device and install a custom ROM because by then they have long since stopped supporting it. I think I finally got the upgrade to android 5.1.1 in summer last year, and have yet to see 6.0.

Re: Android Patch Monthly

Many carriers do not update the OS much or in some cases at all. Especially, some of the pre-paid. Good luck getting software updates on Straight Talk, TracFone, etc...
