Hello all,
Dr. Wim Degrave, who is deeply involved in Brazil's response to the Zika crisis, has written a project update describing how analyzing protein sequences from Zika and related viruses fit into the larger work of Uncovering Genome Mysteries, and how the project could help scientists develop new tools to diagnose and treat Zika virus and similar diseases. Thank you! ErikaT |

In Germany they would say "Super", phonetically "Souper" to the English ear.
Unbeknownst to this snip quotes content "we had already included the genome of the Zika virus in our study, and in response to recent urgent health needs, we added additional work units that also include Zika and related viral genomes, most of which became available over the last few months." Obviously, what you don't know, but we will want to know anyhow, is how many units this actually added to the known set of 26500. since UGM runs amazingly steady in runtime/unit it makes extrapolation quite easy ![]() |

Does this mean the deadline is pushed back some?

Thanks for the headup. Does it mean that it is now obsolete to setup a dedicated zika project in the (near) future?

Seippel, is it possible to distribute that final batch first?|
----------------------------------------I would assume everyone involved would want to address this virus ASAP. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Dayle Diamond at Apr 14, 2016 5:24:16 AM] |

Seippel Just realized I used the last MCM known batch number, 26500 . Whilst 'deeply involved' is being messaged, I'm kind of taken aback by these zika WU's being suffixed at the end, or is this just words coming out in the wrong order ;? |

My reading of the scientists' update and seippel's post was that the zika WUs were added to the final block of a previous batch and we have already crunched them all. Could be mistaken though.

Thanks for the headup. Does it mean that it is now obsolete to setup a dedicated zika project in the (near) future? The inclusion of Zika sequences into the UGM project does not affect our ongoing search for a Zika project. Thanks, ErikaT [Edit 1 times, last edit by ErikaT at Apr 14, 2016 11:16:56 AM] |
