Guess what we have... 2 Tetrax XWay magnetic holders on the vents, 2 metal plates on back of tab and several other portable devices just one (set comes with 4 each, for top cooling, so much so that the ambient sensors had to be taped off on the dash as else it was running the airco as if it was stone cold in the car... so toasty for the passengers, LoL
----------------------------------------The video demo: http://www.tetrax.com/ The 12volt USB 2.0 kit keeps the tab max charged... better than in the house off 220v. /ot Edit: A 'the customer is assumed to be an idiot' video instruction of the ones we have : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2q6nlRPsIo[Edit 1 times, last edit by SekeRob* at Apr 11, 2016 5:17:51 PM] |

2.5 years on my Nexus 7 2013 of almost constant crunching, even when in car long distance dual acting as large screen TomTom led to no complaints on battery life, but, did set a very prudent 35C max for BOINC to pause, albeit hardly get that. It seems the Nexus 7 is a good cruncher. I ran BOINC on a quad core chinese phone. Overheating wasn't an issue, since I couldn't get it to use more than one core. Ran it until the battery bloated to 2x size and popped the back cover off. I think the next stage would've been battery explosion...My LG G3 overheats and shuts down just by running google maps, so I doubt it could run boinc for more than a minute. If you have a phone/tablet that can take the heat, go ahead and crunch. Don't buy tablets just to crunch though. First, the screen and battery is a waste. Second, you can get the Pine A64 for 19$ or an Odroid C2 for 40$. Both have newer and most likely much faster (and efficient!) ARMv8 cores instead of ARMv7. Also, you don't have to worry about overheating or battery wear. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by fuzzydice555 at Apr 11, 2016 6:11:19 PM] |

Personal i am going away from phone and tablets for work for WCG. Why? I have more micro manage too keep them up and running and the use tear a lot on their life span.
----------------------------------------Therefore i go over to the the NUC NUC5PPYH with the pentium N3700 processor. They run with Ubuntu server and have never had any down time then under electric failor in power line. they draw 12 W out of wall then run 100% load and they do more then just Ebola tasks. I have them in Akasa Newton P cases so tortally passive cooled. Never need to monitor if they crunch or not they just do it. My phone and tablet leaved from time to time zero work in statistic and needed too clear cache, restart wifi or reistall client now and then. The NUC is more resilient hardware for 24/7 full load operation and Ubuntu server is more stable and mature OS for this kind off work too compair to Android. I haven't had any problems with the two RCA tablets i'm using.
They run fine unattended. I usually check in on them every other day just in case though.. |
