I've just received a couple of HST Beta WUs.
----------------------------------------5 WUs started and seem to run OK on two Ubuntu hosts. 2 WUs should be computed by a Windows 7 SP1 x64 host. By starting the first Beta WUs, boinc manager as well as BoincTasks loss the connection to the boinc client. A system reboot did not help. I have absolutely no control on Boinc running on this host. Does anybody have an idea / solution? Cheers, Yves |

You could try ending the BOINC client process (or restarting the service, if its a service install)
----------------------------------------Edit: This might result in all your currently running tasks failing, so might want to wait till the beta units finish if everything's still running [Edit 1 times, last edit by Yarensc at Mar 23, 2016 12:51:01 AM] |

Boinc is blocked.
----------------------------------------CPU load close to 0%. A second reboot did not help. |

If this is a wintel box, it looks like Boinc isn't running at all. You say it's blocked? What are you seeing? Could the AV have blocked it from starting because this was the first Beta to run on that machine and that triggered something? Is Boinc still set to start on boot? If Boinc isn't starting, BoincTasks won't connect to that machine.

I got 3 on remote Linux boxes. The machine with smallest queue finished its in 3.16 hours and is waiting in PV.
----------------------------------------@KerSamson - Is your machine with Wholesale Internet? Their website is having issues now so maybe some of their machines can't access the internet properly(?) . Edit: Doubtful that is the issues as all 3 of my linux boxes are with them and the two machines with Betas in progress just pinged WCG's servers to get more work. As soon as the beta WUs started, I loose the control via boinc manager respectively BoincTasks.
----------------------------------------All currently computed WUs (OET and Beta as well) stopped. boinc.exe is still running (verified using the windows task manager) and 3 beta instances - wcgrid_beta22_gromacs_7.14_windows_x86_64- exist without doing anything. I did never experience such a situation. If no solution could be found, I will edit manually client_state.xmland remove every references to these beta WUs. Finally, I've reinstalled Boinc (repair).
----------------------------------------Everything seems to look good and the Beta WUs are currently being computed. By repairing the Boinc installation, I did experience some troubles with "running as a service", no question came during the repair but the first it looked like that boinc was not running as a service anymore. After a second try (and reboot), it seems to be better. I don't have any idea what did really occur last night. It is very strange (and costed me a couple of hours of investigation). Cheers, Yves |

The option how the execute Service/User level is only offered during a new/re-install i.e. you have to uninstall then install to be able to choose. Mode would not change by itself, not even when buggered as the ownerships are totally different.

I STILL haven't received any of these, and the techs haven't answered my questions about platform requirements. So, let me guess and ask the crunchers. There are other possibilities, but let me start with this one:
I suspect this project is compiled for 64-bit only. Has anyone had one of these on a 32-bit machine? |
