confused Getting Setup

Hi everyone,

Just joined the WCG and excited to start making a contribution.
I have now setup my oct-core tablet and working on setting up my PC.

I have a AMD R9 200 Series card installed - however its not showing that my GPU is doing any projects for WCG. Just 4 projects under way from my i5 Processor.

Am i missing a setting?

I have gone to the WCG website and created a new profile called Home which has GPU enabled, I have enabled in the settings on the BOINC software but still only CPU?

Can anyone assist?

John
*Further info;
I have the latest device drivers, Running Windows 8.1

Re: Getting Setup

There has been just 1 GPU project in WCG.
It was the Help Conquer Cancer project. The GPU app was available in 2013.

Re: Getting Setup

Hi Anjokid, although there are no GPU projects on WCG you can still donate your CPU power. If that is not the case then there are many projects that can use your GPU power.

https://boinc.berkeley.edu/projects.php

Not sure if you have already checked this out, but just find some projects that like AMD Graphic cards and you are set to go.

Hopefully you will find a project that you would like to support :) We are all part of the BOINC community. Just make sure you take care if it is a laptop about heating issues.

Re: Getting Setup

As others have said, there are currently no GPU-enabled projects at WCG. I focus my CPUs on WCG and my GPUs on other worthwhile projects. Since I am using NVIDIA GPUs, I can apply them to GPUGrid work. There are other projects that will work with AMD GPUs. And wow do the GPUs do some serious work!

Re: Getting Setup

Aye - I think that will be my thought process. I added another 150 cores to my team today :-)

Consisting of 39 computers. :-)
