What does downloading and setting up "BOINC + Virtual Box" enable you to do what is the difference between downloading and running "BOINC" compared to "BOINC + Virtual Box"?

Re: BOINC&Virtual Box?

It allows you to run some projects that require virtualbox.
LHC projects come to mind.

WCG does not currently use Virtualbox.

Re: BOINC&Virtual Box?

Oh Ok I see thanks, I was thinking if I turned on my AMD virtual mode in my BIOS i could run a virtual client as well then I would be running 16 threads at once instead of 8 same with my Xeon E3 1240 V2 it has hardware virtualization in BIOS too.

Intel Xeon E3 1240 V2 8 threads @ 3.4 Ghz 69watts 22nm's WCG
AMD FX 8350 7 threads running @ 4.2 Ghz 125 Watts 32 nm'sWCG
Core i5 2557M 4 threads 17 watts WCG
Core i5 2467M 4 threads 17 watts WCG
AMD Athlon 64X2 5800 2 threads @ 2.8 Ghz 89 Watts WCG

Re: BOINC&Virtual Box?

Or perhaps If I installed a Xen hypervisor on my Dell T110 ii Server which I just picked up for $134.00 CAD !! as opposed to $1600.00 on the Dell website I could run ubuntu OS instances with BOINC running on each. Would have to buy some more memory to run virtual server mode I guess 4 Gigs wouldn't be enough unless your Xen manager app had over utilization features but I think that costs extra $$ for that feature.
