Let me give a sketch of this situation ... Two WUs have reached 90% and promise at least a credit of 350 here: FAH2_ avx101119_ 000083_ 0019_ 010_ 0-- In Progress 10/22/15 20:41:57 10/26/15 20:41:57 10.90 / 0.00 349.6 / 0.0 FAH2_ avx101119_ 000086_ 0049_ 008_ 0-- In Progress 10/22/15 20:41:57 10/26/15 20:41:57 10.79 / 0.00 349.6 / 0.0 However, after reaching 100% their credit has dropped to a disappointing 240: FAH2_ avx101119_ 000083_ 0019_ 010_ 0-- Valid 10/22/15 20:41:57 10/23/15 16:33:03 12.13 / 12.30 239.6 / 239.6 FAH2_ avx101119_ 000086_ 0049_ 008_ 0-- Valid 10/22/15 20:41:57 10/23/15 16:28:55 12.00 / 12.20 237.6 / 237.6 Another situation. To get more credit, I guess it's better to abort a WU after it reaches 90% ... I'm using boinc-client-7.2.42-3.gitdd0d630.fc22.x86_64 on an i7-4770 CPU. Adri |

Saw the same thing on my linux machine. Final credit is lower than the 38.85x9 after the 9th trickle, so I removed FAH2 from the applications allowed.
----------------------------------------I can't understand why they just don't used a fixed credit for FAH2 as I seem to recall it was stated that the tasks would all be similar computation times with a 10% variation. For instance, the trickles could stay at 38.85 for each one, but if a task is completed and validated it could be granted 450 credits, as the extra credit would be an incentive for users to complete all 100,000 steps. To me the credits mean nothing. It's finishing the task and getting the research done that counts. If the credits mean that much to you I would suggest that switching projects would be more productive then aborting partially completed tasks. There's no guarantee that you'll get the higher reward @ 90% anyway and aborting tasks may mark your computers as unreliable. JMHO

Uplinger explained this during the beta test:
Ok, the points granted based on trikcle messages are calculated from the averages returned from the grid. The value you claim is different, thus why sometimes it bounces like you have seen. I know some members worry about points, but I figured to grant even amounts the whole way through was best at the time, that way if your computer stopped at say step 40k, then you would get a good granted credit. Instead of doing say half credit per 10k on trickle messages, then the last 10k gets a huge boost. It isn't perfect, but I will see if it needs tweaking. Thanks, -Uplinger [Sep 30, 2015 5:28:46 PM] |

There seems to be an improvement:
After 90%: FAH2_ avx17377-ls_ 000029_ 0001_ 009_ 0-- In Progress 10/23/15 00:59:32 10/27/15 00:59:32 10.68 / 0.00 349.6 / 0.0 and when finished: FAH2_ avx17377-ls_ 000029_ 0001_ 009_ 0-- Valid 10/23/15 00:59:32 10/23/15 19:09:04 11.83 / 12.04 340.6 / 340.6 Also, 8 other WUs have finished here and show similar credits. I'm getting around 350 points a unit.
----------------------------------------Even if it only gave about 250 I'd still do this project, because not only is it trying to cure aids, but make drug searches better. That's a 2 for 1 project right there!  |
