When I try to install the app I get a message:
"This app can't run on your PC" The download button says it's compatible with Win7, 8 & 10. What's up? David Salahi |

Yes, it was running fine on Windows 7 before the upgrade. And Win 10 is working fine with all my other apps so far.

Have a look in Programs and Features if BOINC/World Community Grid is still listed as installed. Possibly you have to run the old application version and uninstall before installing the new client.
That said, my W10-Pro did not loose BOINC [not the WCG version] on upgrading from W8. Postponed W7 upgrading because -I- don't think W10 is stable enough yet to be put on my work-machine from which I do everything. |

SekeRob,
Thanks for the suggestion but I did a clean install, not an upgrade. So, I had to reinstall all of my software. David |

'upgrade' as you called it is indeed quite different from a clean install... no remnants. I'd try the 7.6.9 version from Berkeley that was made W10 compatible. Get it at http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

Did you install the right version, 32 bit or 64 bit? Seems to me as if this could be the reason for your problem

The version he downloaded from WCG is 32 bit, which ensures it would always install under Windows. [The bit size, of the BOINC client, 32 or 64 bits, is not relevant as the science apps do the work, and usually come in 32 & 64 bit [with exceptions].

On one of my PC's WCG under Boinc is working fine under Windows 10, coming from Windows 7. On the other PC (both are from HP) I don't want Windows 10 because it has not Chess Titan (I play a game of chess, every evening, on it). So that one is still under Windows 7.

Uli, I think this is the problem.
Thanks, David |
