confused Long computing times with short Due date?

Hi, I just noticed that the average computing time for FA@H2 task is about 14 hours (Core i7 IvyBridge), with due time about 5 days. This can be serious problem for users, that are using PCs only for couple of hours a day!

I'd highly recommend prolonging the due time to at least 10 days, unless you want to have lot of "no response" results.

Re: Long computing times with short Due date?

BOINC prioritizes short deadline task, and these are higher queuing priority. Also, more important, the next task is dependent on your result. Presently there are 30 tasks that together calculate the sequence of 3 million steps, 30 tasks, if all tasks do the 100K steps in each. At 4 day deadline this means 120 days is programmed to compute a single target compound. The short deadline facilitates that the 120 day maximum object, 4 months, is met and scientists can assess if our crunching efforts are going the right way.

Re: Long computing times with short Due date?

I really don't C this project coming 2 any phones...Android, WP or iOS!
Not with that short deadlines & that much computational power...

maybe d scientists wanted make a project that would last in a future? 'cause u can't crunch these WU on an older CPUs - just isn't enough time!

also, does anyone know how much batches do we have in a FAHB?

Oh Help, do you really read the forums, or is it just the drivel button you keep pushing compulsively [without reading the whole thread before injecting]? The admin has already made a statement about Android not being enabled for FAHB.

But that does not solve the issue I was mentioning - with long run time per task and short due date there will be lots of "missed deadlines" and lots of duplicated tasks for those missed deadlines, effectively prolonging the total required time for computing all tasks. Unless of course BOINC server can prioritize these long tasks for clients, that run 24x7.

now, quote myself:

maybe this would help?!

Don't worry. Partially completed workunits still contribute.

Re: Long computing times with short Due date?

Also I have just noticed this on my running tasks:
Minimum Quorum: 1
So no protection against false/fake results? That cannot possible end well.

You will see in the event log uploads for FAH2 tasks that are still running,
and this is reflected also in your results status:
FAH2_ avx101118_... In Progress 30/09/15 17:05:55 04/10/15 17:05:55 13.67 / 0.00 310.8 / 0.0
