I have one little niggling problem. The CPU time is about 9 to 10 seconds longer than the elapsed time on several units. They are running on a Xeon e5410 running Linux Mint. Other than this they appear to be progressing normally, taking a little over 9 hours to get to 40%. Efficiency ratings over 100% are great, but so are perpetual motion machines. It will be interesting to see if this continues to be the case when the units are finished.

I mentioned duration (estimated vs. effective) since the accuracy of the estimation seems to differ significantly between Windows-based and Linux-based hosts.
----------------------------------------Regarding the earned points, I am aware that beta WUs could bring less points than operational projects. However I noticed the "point problem" because all WUs on Linux-based hosts bring exactly the same credit (otherwise I would probably not have noticed this trouble). Yves |

One of my beta tasks just finished a few minutes ago and I could observe some odd behavior in the computation of the claimed/granted credits.
----------------------------------------This is the task: BETA_ FAHB_ avx17556-ls_ 000091_ 0000_ 002_ 0-- 714 Valid 23.09.15 01:01:34 23.09.15 11:29:40 7.95 285.4 / 285.4 As you can see 285.4 points were claimed (and granted) after completion of the task. When I checked the results status page roughly 1 hour ago, the machine had reported the trickle message for 90% completion and already claimed ~380 points at that point. So how come the value for the claimed credit decreases at the point of wu completion? Is this a known bug? Otherwise it would be smarter to abort a task at 90% completion to receive more points than completely crunching a WU. Atleast for people who are not interested in the science, but only in maximizing their stats when the project leaves beta status.
Cheers,

I have some similar ones but FAHB rather than FAH2, and generation 2 and 3, in a new batch that are running ok so far, e.g.
BETA_ FAHB_ avx17556-ls_ 000087_ 0008_ 003_ 0-- In Progress 23/09/15 14:28:57 27/09/15 14:28:57 0.00 / 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 |

In this beta I'm seeing sets of "Temporarily failed download" messages before the downloads start flowing. Not seeing that for the uploads, nor for downloads of other work.

Kremmen, can you show me the log of the file you're having issues with? Reason I ask is there may be an issue with the CDN, then you are downloading directly from our site.
Thanks, -Uplinger |

Thanks Uplinger for your response in regards to the 2nd generation of work units. I am assuming they have been all sent out?

Speedy,
They get sent out at odd intervals, since this is beta, it is manual, but I have to manually index the new work (it's a simple script), then load them into the grid. This step happens throughout the day, probably 3-6 times when I'm thinking about it. But each time I do these steps, more get sent out and I've even seen 3rd generations coming back, so we should see 4th generations going out soon also. In production, these manual steps would be done automatically as they are with other projects, we just don't do it for beta as we want to keep a close watch on it. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Thanks for the reminder it's manual. I will sit and be patient.
----------------------------------------My patience paid off as I have received 18 tasks. All half an hour in any just over 4% complete with about 12 1/2 to 12 hours 40 minutes remaining. I have checked a few and they have made their first checkpoint at about 28 minutes. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Speedy51 at Sep 24, 2015 2:45:11 AM] |
