I've just checked one of my machines and it was sitting idle with no work units running.
----------------------------------------Looking at the logs - BST times - it started off getting the message 14/09/2015 11:37:12 Server can't open database Then later it was just getting 14/09/2015 14:01:59 Scheduler request failed: SSL connect error I've just manually run an update instead of waiting for the next scheduled attempt and I got a full load of WU downloaded. Just something to flag to the WCG guys just in case this highlights some problem on one of their backend servers. Update: Just checked two more machines and both showing the same initial problems but everything appears to be OK now. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Steve W at Sep 14, 2015 2:02:13 PM] |

Yes, the admins have had a fun Monday morning. Things all seem to be back up and running. Nothing in News or here from the admins yet but we need to give them time for the dust to settle. I'm sure we'll see something from them soon.

Greetings,
Yes we did have an exiting morning so far due to server issues. We have gotten things back up and running as quickly as we could. It was an issue with the database which we were able to resolve. We are working now to see if we can prevent this from happening again in the future which is our current task now. Thanks, -Uplinger |

I have noticed that a huge pile of my results which were already validated went back to PV state. I had ~9 pages of PV, now it's 37. Was the validation restarted somehow?

"a huge pile of my results which were already validated went back to PV state",
What could have been underway is if during the 2+ hours outage, results went overdue and some redundant copies could have been sent out right after the scheduler came back [?], but as of the moment I ran my own analysis, none had hit on any of my results, 67 valid, and all validations seemed current. It was not so long this offline period, so how many were leaning against overdue for which this could have occurred is a guess... not very many. |

The pile seems to be decreasing (19 pages now) so it looks like the validators are catching up. The recent very short OET1 tasks probably have influence on this too.

If current daily validations is upwards of 1.5 million, Friday even almost hit 2 million, and that's halted for a few hours, then it's no wonder it takes time to get the backlog go away.
