WCG must working with Debian linux in ARM system.
----------------------------------------Because all arm boards can working with Debian. Rpi2 , banana pi , banana pro, odroid, cubie board, orange pi and other board are very stable with debian. We are writing a new distro: PardusARM Linux. Its a Turkish distro and debian based. We will make a micro data center with 4 cores arm board with PardusARM. Give full power for Ebola and cancer project. PardusARM ** Plase convert this project to Debian system. Thanks. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Sep 1, 2015 9:24:08 AM] |

WCG runs on Debain-Linux with x86/x86_64 CPUs, but not on ARM, which is only supported under Android.
----------------------------------------A port is very maintenance intense, requires lots of compatibility testing to ensure the results are 1:1 with the other platforms. This is the reason only the 4 main and widely used platforms are supported, Windows/Linux/Mac on x86/x86_64 and Android-Arm. BTW, you have been a registered member since August 27, but as yet you have not registered any device / returned a result. Surely you have something to help out with under the 4 mentioned operating systems [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Sep 1, 2015 8:51:06 AM] |

put Android on those ARM boards & try to run WCG on it!
----------------------------------------WCG or any scientist (project) will not change their plans 4 only merely 4 devices u have...but if u have 400.000 of them, let us know here! |

Android is not a perfect solution for ARM Boards.
Debian is stable , fast and secure. All BOINC project can work with debian. Example: my Pi2 & Pardus Linux work with Seti@home project. Link: http://sunucu.pardusarm.com/m/ Thanks. |

I know it works...but on WCG it's up to scientist 2 make apps 4 BOINC!
----------------------------------------& if they got 400 device 2 play with - they don't bother...example: no BOINC on Win10 phone! so here is a list of projects u can run with urz HW: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=7766 also, of Debian org page, there isn't any project listed 4 Debian@ARM: https://wiki.debian.org/BOINC/Projects so just find ur place in Universe of computing data... |

In comparison to other grid computing projects, the projects supported by WCG require highly accurate and reliable results.
----------------------------------------For this reason, the validation mechanism are complex and "platform sensitive". It makes the support of various crunching platforms requesting to invest a lot of effort for ensuring result accuracy. For example, I assume that Seti@Home is less demanding regarding result accuracy. In particular for life science projects, you should not forget that you are contributing to fundamental research steps for new medicines. Such area of work require a lot of controls for ensuring the reliability, reproducibility, and accuracy of results. Because of this sensitivity, it is also difficult to support GPU-based crunching. The accuracy of GPUs is basically not so high and easily reproducible on a wide range of GPU processors than it is by CPU. Cheers, Yves |
