No new tasks

I had to abort several tasks because I wouldn't be able to meet the deadline. I bought a quad core to help (it's not online, yet). I haven't received any work for centuries. I have 118 hrs of climate prediction work left to run and there is nothing else in queue. The current work isn't due until next summer. I'm ready to get new work and am concerned that all the aborts are keeping me out.

Re: No new tasks

Hi,

Deadlines as WCG are 7 to 10 days, except repair jobs are due in 3.5 but only sent to fast returners. If your computer is not able to complete work in time, it's either not on enough hours in the day, or the buffer/cache settings are too high. Start with changing both to zero (0) and you get new work minutes before currently assigned work completes. This way the tasks nearly always have maximum time to run from receipt to finishing, which is especially important for devices that are only part-time computing. Aborts do not prevent new work to come except if you abort too many in a day. There'a cap on how many units per day are allowed per device, just to prevent clients to get too much work or e.g. cause problems for the work distribution.

CPDN is exceptional with their weeks, months, years deadlines. Think BOINC is hardcoded to treat this project in different ways.

Re: No new tasks

Can't, due to SQL error. I didn't see anything unusual.
